Yoga, Meditation and Healing Teacher

My life as a yogi began nearly twenty years ago.  With a little encouragement from a friend, I took my first class at a Bikram Yoga studio.  I fell in love with the practice.  The challenge of the movements paired with a very hot room ignited something inside of me.

After 19  years of practicing different styles of yoga  I  decided to follow my heart and register for a 200 hour  Yoga Alliance Teacher Training.   My education was focused  on the principles  of Ashtanga Vinyasa as well as the discipline of  Yin Yoga.  I believe that a physically rigorous lifestyle needs to be paired with consciously slowing down through mindful stillness.  The combination of those two things can bring a sense of balance to one’s life.  A state of both  “yin” and “yang”.

It has been said, “We do not use the body to get into the postures, we use the postures to get into the body”.  I wholeheartedly agree with this statement and take it one step further.  Asanas paired with  proper breathing techniques allow for  students to experience  the world in a completely different way.  Taking deep breaths and moving mindfully is not something reserved  for the yoga studio, it is a way of living.  My goal as a teacher is to assist the student to move and breath in such a way, that  what comes to pass in the studio, also comes comes to pass in one’s everyday life.
