A Day In The Life - Bryan!
Melissa asked Laura and I to write up a ‘Day in the Life’ blurb showing what a typical day looks like for us. I quickly typed up a couple of spreadsheets with a timeline from my wake-up to lights out for a typical Tuesday and Wednesday. When Laura saw this she laughed and said ‘of course Bryan responded to this with a spreadsheet.’ When she told me that, I thought ‘what do you mean? How else would I do this!?’
Spreadsheets are my happy place. If I was going away for a weekend, I would use a spreadsheet to create a packing list. Literally, I have a saved folder with packing lists on my computer. So in terms of carrying out my day, that is how my brain works. I see a day as a list of items in a fixed timeframe. I pretty much know what I will be doing on any given day at any given time. This allows me to compartmentalize the thing I’m doing and then move efficiently through my day making the most of every minute. I also take things one item at a time and I move through life pretty much trying to make it from one day to the next. Day to day, if you ask me how I’m doing, it’s usually ‘day to day.’
Does this fulfill me or inspire me or help me feel like I’m thriving? No. But it’s how I get through. Importantly though, it does help protect my workout times. My workouts are a must, non-negotiable and having a set schedule allows me to plan on and more importantly almost never miss one. This is a little insight into how my brain works, how I view a day in my life and what works for me.
